WordPress 3.0

I have finally gotten WordPress 3.0 to play nice with my web host…or is it the other way around. Hahaha! The installation part is easy, but configuration…I didn't realize how tricky it is to make them both work together.

I did some basic configuration like changing the theme from the very basic default theme to the latest new default theme called Twenty Ten, which I have done some easy basic customization like changing the header graphic and also inserted some widgets which you can see on the left of this page.

Anyways, it is sandbox time! … I hope I won't cause too much damage to my WP installation.

Yes it does work. However, once you update the theme, the customization you have done maybe will be replaced. You will have to make the changes again to the .css files. So it is good idea to keep a list of changes handy somewhere. For example, I have recently updated the theme from 1.0 to 1.1, and the line between posts are gone…so I have to add that back again. 🙁

Another way to prevent losing the changes you have made is to use Child Themes.

Hey, ok, I get it, I guess – but does this really work?

Great idea, but will this work over the long run?
